Biologically Motivated Analog-Digital Conversion Technique

چکیده
Biological neurons acting alone are inefficient and noisy, yet are able to work together to produce a large dynamic response over a wide frequency range. This behavior suggests using interconnected low-level electronics to represent the conversion of analog signals to digital temporal patterns for state of the art analog to digital conversion.

Improving adaptive resolution of analog to digital converters using least squares mean method
This paper presents an adaptive digital resolution improvement method for extrapolating and recursive analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). The presented adaptively enhanced ADC (AE-ADC) digitally estimates the digital equivalent of the input signal by utilizing an adaptive digital filter (ADF). The least mean squares (LMS) algorithm also determines the coefficients of the ADF block. In this sch...
متن کاملA novel digital-to-analog conversion technique using duty-cycle modulation
The novel digital-to-analog conversion technique studied in this paper, is founded on the digital duty-cycle modulation principle. It consists of a simple digital duty-cycle modulation program loaded in the flash memory of a microcontroller and an external analog low pass filter. Both pulse width and modulation period, simultaneously evolve according to the variation of the modulating input. Th...
متن کاملA Digital Common-Mode Rejection Technique for Differential Analog-to-Digital Conversion
A multibit analog-to-digital converter can achieve high resolution with a lower order modulator and lower oversampling ratio than a single-bit design, but it requires a multibit internal flash analog-to-digital converter rather than a simple comparator. In an implementation with a fully differential analog front end, the flash analog-to-digital converter must quantize a differential voltage rel...
متن کاملPhotonic Time Stretch and Its Application to Analog-to-Digital Conversion
We demonstrate a new concept for analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion based on photonic time stretch. The analog electrical signal is intensity modulated on a chirp optical waveform generated by dispersing an ultrashort pulse. The modulated chirped waveform is dispersed in an optical fiber, leading to the stretching of its envelope. We have derived analytical expressions for the stretch factor an...
متن کاملReprint Ultra - Wideband Analog - to - Digital Conversion Via Signal Expansion Sebastian Hoyos and Brian M . Sadler Award
We consider analog to digital (A/D) conversion, based on the quantization of coefficients obtained via the projection of a continuous time signal over a set of basis functions. The framework presented here for A/D conversion is motivated by the sampling of an input signal in domains which may lead to significantly less demanding A/D conversion characteristics, i.e., lower sampling rates and low...
